Debate Team

The Skinner West Debate Team participated in the Chicago Middle School Debate League's Tournament Three for the 2018-2019 season on Saturday, January 12.

The overall topic for the year is: 'Immigration', and the cases being debated at this Tournament were 'H-1B Visas' and 'Open Borders'.

The students did a great job against some tough competition and won the awards listed below.

Some highlights we would especially like to point out are:
1) Skinner West took 1st place in two out of the six award categories.
2) Skinner West won about 40% of all possible awards at the tournament (21 out of 52).

with food, dancing and good company.

Classroom Connection - 3rd Grade

CC3GR

Happy Valentine's Day!
Third grade superstars spent the afternoon making treat bags and valentines for kids at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, right in our neighborhood. The students were creative, kind, and generous in this activity, learning the importance of giving to others.
Thank you to our room parents for helping with supplies and for delivering the valentines. We hope the kids enjoy them!

Classroom Connection - Rm. 116

CC116

Dr. Ned from Skyline Smiles Dentist in the West Loop came to Skinner West to speak to the children about taking care of their teeth. February is Dental Awareness Month and Dr. Ned will be visiting each of the K-3 classes over the next few weeks!
Ms. Growe's kindergarten in room 116 enjoyed the guest speaker and learned so many fun facts about how to keep their teeth healthy!
Thank you for the prize bags Skyline Smiles!
